The UCF/HCA Healthcare GME Greater Orlando/Lake Monroe Internal Medicine Residency Program is a categorical residency program based out of HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital. HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is situated in Sanford, FL, which is located 23 miles northeast of downtown Orlando.
- Diverse patient population at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital and the surrounding community clinics
- The program size is 36 categorical residents, 12 residents per PGY level
- 4+1 (X+Y) schedule to allow for uninterrupted inpatient experience or elective, followed by a single week of continuity clinic
- Daily educational conference at the noon hour
- Protected, separate four-hour block of didactics each Thursday afternoon. Residents will be excused of clinical duties so that they may focus on medical learning.
- Incorporation of healthcare disparities, DEI, and professional development into medical education curriculum
- Robust scholarly activity and quality improvement curriculum with emphasis placed on publication and presentations at local and national conferences/committee meetings
